How did you all meet? Where do you both work? What are your goals as far as your marriage?
Jake and I became friends in May of 2011. About a year later in March of 2012 we began dating and stuck like glue ever since. We are high school sweethearts. Jake was just a junior and I, a freshman, when we began dating. Now, 7 years later, Jake works as a mechanic at Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel and I am a preschool teacher at Crittenden County Elementary. Our goals for our marriage are to always keep God first, as well as, travel together and one day, start a family.
WHY DID YOU PICK BURDOC FARMS?
E&J – We chose Burdoc Farms as our venue for the obvious fact that it is breathtaking, but also, because of how the staff treats you like family. They were always available to lend a helping hand and answer any questions that we had. We also loved that they had an option for an outdoor or indoor facility for the ceremony/reception and thankfully so because it rained for the entirety of our wedding day. Having a rain plan as beautiful as ours was is always a plus!
WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE LIKE?
E – From arriving that morning to the last dance, my day was perfect. I knew that everything was taken care of and had no worries! The staff was excellent at communicating with me and ensuring that everything I wanted was handled. Even throughout the planning process they assisted in helping us to find vendors and giving us a checklist of to-dos, so we remained on schedule.
J- I loved not having to worry about anything the day of and being able to show up knowing that Elle wasn’t going to be panicked. The day was stress free and I knew that they would take care of anything we needed!
WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BURDOC?
E&J – We LOVED Keith Glenn. The atmosphere was perfect for our southern elegance themed wedding! Every detail in the building helped us to create the environment that we wanted for our big day. It was a total dream to walk down the aisle and see the rain falling down the big glass windows. We could not have asked for a more beautiful barn to get married in. Not to mention that the building in itself was accessible for every guest, from the youngest to the elderly. The open concept allowed for us to arrange the tables to create the perfect dance floor for the reception. The bar area and fireplace are gorgeous with the rock detail. Overall, this place knocked it out of the park!
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT THE DAY OF THE WEDDING?
E – My most memorable moment of the day was walking down the aisle to Jake. It felt like it was a scene out of a movie. It was exactly what I had always dreamed of! The morning of, we had decided that we needed to move the ceremony into Keith Glenn due to the weather, instead of, the outside ceremony site where I had been planning to have it for almost two years. I was so nervous that it wasn’t going to look just right but after we put the aisle and arch together, I knew that it was even more beautiful than I could’ve possibly imagined. The windows behind us made for beautiful scenery and the rain set the romantic feel that everyone wants for their wedding.
J – My most memorable moment of the day was when I saw Elle walking down the aisle. I remember thinking how it didn’t seem real that the day had finally come. She wouldn’t let me see her before the ceremony, so I was nervous, but her calm made me feel at peace.
WHAT GENERAL ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A COUPLE THAT IS GETTING MARRIED?
E&J – Our advice that we would give to a couple that is getting married is to really take time that day to soak it all in. The day is over so quick and then you’ll wish that you could do it all over again! Try not to stress about the little things and make sure you delegate. Itineraries are your best friend! Sit back and relax with your friends and family. Remember to take some time with your new husband/wife as well! This day is about you two becoming one so make sure that you take in the moment and be thankful!
