Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Sara N. Shepherd has built her life and career around the art of hospitality. A graduate of Centre College with a degree in French Language and Literature, Sara spent a year studying in Paris, where she developed a love for travel, culture, food, and customer service.
With her background and her family’s long history of entertaining, Sara naturally transformed Burdoc Farms from a working family farm into a thriving wedding and event venue. Under her leadership, Burdoc Farms expanded to include lodging, corporate events, and plans for summer concert series—growing the business by more than 35% annually.

Jessica A. Shepherd, CFO of Burdoc Farms, holds a Master’s Degree in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Louisville. Growing up on the family farm in Crofton, Kentucky, Jessica learned early the values of hard work, creativity, and innovation.
Her vision has been key to transforming Burdoc Farms from a traditional agricultural operation into a dynamic agritourism destination. Jessica’s expertise lies in strategic planning, brand growth, and family business development, helping others find success in sustainable and community-driven ways.
